Occupational Certificate: Pest Management Officer

Purpose: The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to operate as a Pest Management Officer. A Pest Management Officer inspects a range of work sites; identifies pests present; plans and prepares for the appropriate treatment; implements treatment intervention processes; and implements site clean-up and clearance processes in order to manage pest infestations in domestic, commercial and industrial sites.
A qualified learner will be able to:
 Inspect premises and identify pests.
 Plan pest management interventions.
 Implement pest management interventions.
 Implement site clean-up and clearance processes.

Design Thinking Partitioner

A Design Thinking Practitioner is someone skilled in applying the principles of design thinking a human-centered, problem-solving approach to create innovative solutions. They guide teams through stages like empathizing with users, defining problems, ideating, prototyping, and testing. Their goal is to foster creativity, collaboration, and user-focused innovation in solving real-world challenges.

NQF 2 - Farming

  • 8 - 12 months
  • Minimum credits: 120

A learner assessed as competent against this qualification will be able to perform the necessary technical skills within the context of either agronomy, horticulture or animal husbandry as applicable to the agricultural commodity. The learner will be able to operate as part of the operational team. 

In addition, they will be well positioned to extend their learning and practice into other areas of agricultural commodities or to strive towards agricultural standards and practice at higher levels. Competent qualifying learners in this qualification will produce quality agricultural products enhancing the overall agricultural process and gaining opportunities in local, national and international agricultural markets.
